Days on #dgplug

Hello again πŸ™‚

Yes , i took a break again ( for a week this time )
Now that it is all about the summer training and three more days were very well spent on #dgplug channel

DAY 3 – 24th June 2015

As in our last session we were given links aboutΒ  FHS – File Hierarchy Standards.
So , today was all about the queries we had with the links provided with Kushal da answering each oneΒ  of us πŸ™‚
Came to know about many things , i had sparse or i can NO knowledge of !!

DAY 4 – 30th June 2015

Admist of these days , we were sent links to study about our next topic , that was about VI/VIM editor.
Vi or Vim – is simply a text editor that allows us to edit someΒ  file.
Here are few links to that were given to us to know about vim —

All Vi asks for is practice as there are plenty of commands to keep tracks of.
Today , was all about the questions we had about VIM.
The widely asked question being – ” Why do we use VIM over other editors ? ”
A nice question indeed with lots of interesting answers as well πŸ™‚
At last . we were served –Β  to read for our next class,

4th July 2015 – Late Evening

After i went through the link , had an anxiety to create the same πŸ˜›
Well , it didn’t took a long but i made an html file exactly same as the above link πŸ™‚ with “test.rst” as my vi file and “test.html” as my presentation slide.
Had Questions aboutΒ  – Literal Blocks , Ordered lists , Sections and many more. Few of which were cleared my google andΒ  few by IRC members and the left ones , by Kushal Da πŸ™‚

*Note – rst2s5 made the rst htmlΒ  file that way , rst2html didn’tΒ  ( wondering what i wrote ? Won’t be a lot of trouble to google about “s5” )

DAY 5Β  – 2nd July 2015

Finally , the little doubts were swept off.
I don’t know what i am supposed to do for my next class πŸ˜› Well , there is a lot to kearn πŸ™‚
and yes , we were asked to give our feedback on the sessions being held ( Words won’t be enough to say how beneficial they are to anyone who wants to ” LEARN ”
Downloaded “asciinem” as told ( yet to google about it ) and mysql too !

P.SΒ  – I wish i could stay on IRC the whole day.. and yes , i am Learning πŸ™‚

A New Evening !!

DAY- 2
The title shows it , i am here to discuss about the second day of my summer training.
Today , i personally felt i came to know about a lot of things ( i had no clue of ) and these questions never popped up into my tiny head πŸ˜›
The process was quiet fast and it was taking me a little time to understand a few questions and their answers too ( all thanks to πŸ™‚ )
After the Q/A session ended , we were provided with a few links that we have to go through for the next class that is to happen on 24th june 2015 at 18:30 P.M IST
It was now when i have finished reading the links except about fhs ( it’s quiet big πŸ˜› needs time )
Here are yesterday’s links : – IRC logs for FHS – The book for FHS

The links are not only great to read over and over again but are helpful and beneficial too , for one who really is interested in gathering knowledge πŸ™‚
It has been a really long time since i have read them. The brain feels good after recalling them again πŸ™‚

P.S – Looking forward for more and more things to grasp.

The Summer Training – 2015

Ahhhh ,Β  this is exciting.
Frankly Speaking , usually at the beginning when i was completely new to the FOSS world and just began my learning , i was often said by Kushal Da to go through the previous years ” IRC logs ” and i followed it too. I saw the conversations there ( some were too funny πŸ˜€ ) , people helping each other , pulling each other’s leg and what not. Saw the heading stated as , SUMMER TRAINING. Though , had no idea what it was ( at that time ) and later when i got puffed up with everything , i came to know what ” summer training ” actually was.
Since then , wanted to be a part of it , wanted to see those things exactly happening as it was there in the ” IRC logs ”
Well , the time came.

DAY – 1

20th June ‘ 15 – The 8th session of the summer training and yes, i am a proud part of it πŸ™‚
I was excited since morning , logged into IRC ( Which i usually do ) but today it was the other part of my exciting world.
Spent my entire day reading the last year’s IRC logs.. ( and trust me, it benefits a lot )
Later at 18:30 P.M ( according to the IST ) , was when Kushal Da showed up. There were other volunteers too , including Chandan Kumar , Devyani Di , Sayan Choudhary and many others i am yet to know about πŸ™‚
I was not new , so was having my part of fun πŸ˜‰Β  Seeing everyone talking , asking their questions ( of which , i knew answers already ) , Learning a few things i had no idea of.
and the best part was , Kushal Da answering everyone so patiently πŸ™‚ I just had my fingers crossed ( if you know what i mean πŸ˜‰ )
There were around 130 users in all , which was a fascinating thing to see. It is nice to know there are other people who can crave so much in for learning.
Today , it was an introduction class and a question and answer session was held then after.
We were given a few links –
and were told to read them before our next class / session.
Looking forward for a brand new class and also a lot of new things to learn.
P.S – In my third link , it was mentioned – “We Owe a lot to this community ” , sure we do πŸ™‚
So , i thank all of you for helping us , giving us your precious time and putting in efforts for us.
and all we can do is , do our best and slowly and steadily become a successful Contributor / Developer πŸ™‚

Available Again :)

I suppose i was on my biggest leave ever πŸ˜€ Sorry , but couldn’t help myself.
just apologies to people who thought i was dead πŸ™‚
To begin with , the last one month has been quite successful in turning my world upside down. The Semester exams brought the biggest devastation along. Phew.. than god it’s over somehow.
Next , talking about open source.. Well , was a not a big hit for last few days though i kept reading about C and python but couldn’t practice it all again ( and i feel terribly sorry for myself )
College provided me a big fat bonus of a one month holiday , which is what generally happens after semesters and for this – I LOVE MY COLLEGE ^_^
This summer , there is a lot to do , lot to learn and i wish i achieve all that is planned in my tiny little head πŸ˜›
I shall keep on writing from now on with all the progress i make.
P.S – It feels good to be back πŸ™‚

And i know a little more now :)

It feels terrible when you can’t write in for a long time. Well , the reason brings a wide smile too.
I am not a very busy person nor do i do a lot of work ,Β  but yes all i do is spend more than a little time on studying and learning about things and terms sparsely known to me.
The few days i spent got me my fruits πŸ™‚ Yes , i still need to code ” A LOT ” and i mean the caps.
Speaking about C , Now i am familiar with lots of things – Arrays , Pointers , Functions , Data Structure ,File Handling etc. Still need to dive into more and more details.
I , now know how to create a function , when to call it by name and when to call it by address and things about which i shall discuss after knowing more about them.Python is fine too πŸ™‚
Happiness is when you know how well to manage things , which few days back seemed havoc ( you may know , if you are an avid reader of my blogs πŸ˜‰ )
There is a lot to learn yet and i invest most of time doing it.. but there has a bad side to everything and to me – COLLEGE ( i so hate it )
Assignments , Internals and what not get to my nerves and sometimes i feel like killing myself. Few days simply pass doing all these 😦 Yes , it is SAD.

P.S – All i am waiting for is , this semester to end and go on a long holiday πŸ™‚ To me , that is happiness +1 πŸ™‚

Yet, a lot to learn.

Going on a break is becoming a regular bad habit of mine πŸ˜›Β  The culprit is Time.
After coming back to my as usual boring life of college, i was busy with my internals. Went fine.
Coming back to my ” learning ” part.. i have so so much to study yet.
Speaking about a little things i came across in C, Arrays, Numbers Systems, brief description on Pointers and yes, FUNCTIONS – felt like a master as i knew it’s details ( thanks to python πŸ™‚ ) There is a lot to learn about functions too.
Trying to work on a few codes that are not getting into my head.
A day passes and everyday at the end i suppose myself to have grasped a few essential things.

P.S – All that i could discuss for today. Need to fast up my pace in the world of learning πŸ™‚

This is LIFE

A warm hello to everyone.. A tight schedule kills you, isn’t it ? Yes, it kills me and this beingΒ  the reason i had to take such a ” long ” break from WordPress 😦
To be very honest, i don’t actually remember whole ofΒ  what i did in the past few days but would surely like to mention the important things that i came across.
As i mentioned in my previous post about the Technical Fest being held at my college.. It was the first time for me to attend a Fest. So, was a little excited. It was fun being a part of a few events.. πŸ™‚
I gave my name for a workshop that was to teach us about creating aΒ  Web-Page. It always fascinated me to open a particular website and then with the click of your mouse, you start traveling within the page. I never imagined i would ” actually know ” how to do that.
Though not much, but learnt few ( The word Few should be seriously taken care of πŸ˜› )Β  concepts of HTML, CSS, JQUERY
I would certainly look forward to dig more into them ( CSS and JQUERY )
Thanks to my seniors who pulled outΒ  time for us.
It was a workshop for two days.Β  i did my best to understand everything that was being explained.
Next, talking about my life – ahhh, it tortures me πŸ˜₯ Being at home for a few days CANNOT fix the pain of the total torture life you spend at college ( Trust me on this )
Even on a holiday, you are not free.. You get loads of assignments, lab projects, and then warnings – ” College reopens and class test will be waiting for you ” ( This is again why i so so much hate college )
I barely care πŸ˜› i am busy in my world which consists of lots and lots of learning and i don’t feel like shifting my focus.
Along with Kushal Da’s book, i got an address to a book named byte_of_python ( Reading that too )
And the journey of my C is leading me perfect. i am happy with C ( not more happy than i am with python πŸ˜‰ ) There were a lot of new programs that i learnt writing in C and running them too.. and the best part is, when you write a program and it throws ” no errors ” at all.
My sparkling teeth shines when i see, ” Errors : 0 ” ( Again, this has yet to happen with python )
This part of my life makes me Happy.. All you do is learn and experiment with programs.. ( i am reading more than writing programs )
All for today. I should be summing up now. I shall write it soon again.

P.S – It is fun to be a part of a life which provides you different shades of the same color with each passing day. Don’t miss it. Enjoy every day to the fullest πŸ™‚

Growing up :)

Date – 14th Feb 2015 ( had been writing in parts again, finished today)
To be honest, i am myself disappointed that i am not able to write in daily πŸ˜› though i want to be ” consistent” ( well, i try ) but my life’s biggest barrier pops up ( College :/ )

Coming to today, finally i am happy that the calendar has got one day which is ” not for me ” πŸ˜€ ( One is smart enough to get my point πŸ˜› )
Okay, shifting to what i wanted to mention…
I am on a ride, which is taking me really really up.. It’s fun.. but ” to balance ” is what keeps importance !!
Let me enlighten you with my C experience first.. would use just a word ” exciting ” πŸ™‚ there is a yet a lot to discover..
Talking about what i came across in the past few days.. Few Programs, let me mention, few simple programs ( which seemed simple after i got the solutions πŸ˜› )
You atleast need to know the basics of programming. Well, C is serving a perfect meal.
A beginner cannot prosper without aΒ  few things ( this is MY current situation) – lots and lots of questions, why this, why not this, confusions, and plenty of thinking.. The good and the best part is, for every problem there are solutions. You need to find them.
Yes, i am finding my part of solutions and they are a great success always (:
Few days back, i had my C class, it was 17:30 when i entered my dorm.. ( with infinite questions in my mind )
We were taught a few programs that day, about switch case, break and one including about loops.
This was the first time when i understood, a simple code can be written in multiple ways.
i will share mine.

#include <stdio.h>
int main()
int NUM, REM, SUM = 0;
printf (“ENTER A NUMBER: “);
scanf (“%d” , &NUM);
REM = NUM % 10;
NUM = NUM/10;
} while ( NUM > 0);
printf (“%d”, SUM);

return 0;
The same code can be written using while as well, which was a much better preference than do while.. and the most important thing that i learnt was about the difference between ” while and do-while” and also when to use the former and when to strike on the latter..
Thanks to kushal da, bnprk and darkowlzz.
I was given a lot of code to write – one was to print the fibonacci series. The funny part was, python made me do that in three to four lines and it took a little more lines for C to do the same.
At the end of every day it’s good to see that you learned a bunch of things. You feel good knowing you solved things, that may be is tough for the person sitting next to you ( Please don’t hesitate to help)
I shall share my programs ( very soon, hopefully tomorrow)
P.S – This one is getting long πŸ˜› I shall switch in tomorrow and also thank you readers πŸ™‚

Hey πŸ™‚
I went on a break πŸ˜› Well, not for a very long time i suppose.. i am here again πŸ™‚
Talking about the last few days i spent….. they were total torture.. Reason ??Β  Yes… ” college ” 😦
Days are passing like seconds and the watch seems to have lost it’s minutes and seconds handΒ  >_<
At the end of the day, you keep wondering ” what on you spent your entire day ” and as an answer you get ” oh, i wasted my today’s day, that certainly won’t happen from tomorrow “.. and trust me, you think the same again the very next day πŸ˜›
Speaking a little about college, ( yes, i still hate college )
Like i said, i was introduced to a very new language C.. πŸ™‚ So far, the language has kept my enthusiasm on the peak.. hope it serves me better till the end.. ( Fingers Crossed )
Next, Python.. i really find a very little time to spend on it.. ( after spending my entire day on boring and silly subjects :/ ) still, trying my best to make use of the little time i get…
BCREC ( my college ) is organizing a technical fest.. A seminar was arranged for us, so that we are aware of the events being organized in the fest.. though few of the events are worth participating.. looking forward πŸ™‚
A day begins and the day ends.. you have to play your role within the boundaries..
P.S – I am starving for holidays…

Sad but True.. !

* sigh *
I thought somebody would knock my door today, it was sad seeing – Nobody did.
That didn’t made me sad, i was astonished rather.
Coming to what i am talking about in the lines above… Like i told, Kushal Da came to visit us yesterday. He inspite of his busy schedule took out time for us.. πŸ™‚ Even went to have a conversation with the students ( as i mentioned in my first post )
The only difference was i was no more on the student’s seat πŸ™‚ I was experiencing it once again ( lucky me )
I standing infront of the whole class just had a single good feeling – may be after today, i will get few more people on dgplug.
Kushal Da made his best efforts to make the fellow student’s understand about a life beyond college subjects..
I was just hearing what he was saying, with a hope that the spectators would get it too .. πŸ™‚
Dreams are far away from reality.. Yes, i was ” DREAMING ”
Due to lack of time, he couldn’t speak a lot but, he spoke quite enough for the viewers to understand what the point was.

After we left, especially me, i had faith i would be surrounded by a little clan of people after that who would take some interest on FOSS
Trust me, reality really is bitter.
* Note – i ( and kushal da too ) just wanted student, being from computer science and information technology fields to focus more on real world and technology. Nothing else.
Like he said, to him,Β  the benefit directly wasΒ  none, but indirectly – a lot
We really can’t mend everyone’s way of thinking. Can we ?
I was sad, two days passed and nobody had the urge to even approach me or my seniors ( who too were there )
That doesn’t boosts my moral down but i was busy giving few things a thought.. Well, leaving those upto me.
This was an experience.. πŸ™‚ A good one.
Atleast now i know, what more and more people want.
i feel good… not being part of a common thing !
P.S – I feel glad.. to be in vicinity of kushal da and my dear seniors who are always there to help me whenever i need them πŸ™‚ Well, the sun is about to rise bringing along a new day πŸ™‚
